The backdrop of Beijing isn’t simply a change of location, Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han isn’t a carbon copy of Pat Morita’s Mr. Miyagi, and the martial artistry has been ramped up to eleven. Even with predictability working against it, The Karate Kid offers plenty of surprises.

Three basic fundamentals for the youth football defensive back to learn are the proper stance, how to backpedal, and how to perform an effective break. Defensive backs are known as the secondary defensive unit in football. Most commonly they are the corners, safety and, in some defensive schemes, the nickel or dime back.

Stance

There are various ways for a coach to teach the most effective defensive back stance at the line of scrimmage. Of course, every coach is looking to gain an edge on every play, and in the case of defensive backs, he wants every advantage for coming off the line with speed and power. A staggered stance with the feet is thought to be most effective for balance and agility.

The feet should be positioned with the toe of one foot lined up with the instep of the other foot. If the defensive back breaks too early, the quarterback may look elsewhere for a play. If he breaks too late, the pass may already be complete.

Defensive Back Backpedal Drill – Create two single-file lines at the sidelines. On the whistle, two defensive backs begin backpedaling to the hashmarks. The players should be bent forward at the waist, feet shoulder-width apart with their weight positioned evenly over the balls of their feet. Backpedal with Reaction to the Football – This youth football defensive back drill will teach the players how to break quickly from a backpedal position. Line the players up as mentioned above. Have the defensive backs perform the same backpedaling drill. Once they reach the hashmarks, throw a football either right or left to force them to break. You can perform this with a whistle as well and forego the football. Just whistle when you want them to break.

Like all youth football drills, practicing these and other drills help make the defensive fundamentals second nature to the youth player, and they can be practiced off the field too, whether in your back yard or out in the park.

This movie is awesome and cute. It was really really good. Really enjoyed it.

Simply Amazing.. An Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Superb Remake. No Doubt Jaden would turn out to be a better actor than his father.

Being a massive Jackie Chan Fan since watching ‘Project A’ from 1982, I went to see this film with a certain amount of anticipation and trepidation. Firstly I loved the original Karate Kid, and although I understood this was not a carbon copy of the original I still didn’t want to see it fail or tar the good name of the ‘franchise’. Jackie Chan as the wise old ‘Mr Han’ went brilliantly and even though he doesn’t give off quite the same aura as the original ‘Mr Miyagi’ he still does a damn good job, he pulls off the lonely maintenance man come martial arts expert to perfection and you can feel the empathy and father like qualities oozing from ‘Chan’ towards ‘Jaden Smith’s’ character ‘Dre Parker’. Jaden is obviously from the ‘Smith’ gene pool and will no doubt go very far in the world of film, and considering this is one of his first steps on the ladder he is definately a very talented youngster with many of his fathers qualities. Role on ‘The Karate Kid 2 and 3, I for one can’t wait.

Karate Kid: I love this movie! I have always been a Fan of Jackie Chan and I still think he looks pretty dang good. Jackie you go boy. He really stepped up his acting game. I was amazed, I knew that Jackie was a great actor, but now everyone else will too. I canacirc;��t say enough great things about him so letacirc;��s go to Jaden Smith. WOW. Little Will you did your thing. acirc;��Awesomeacirc;�� is the word that come to mind. This little man is up there with the big boys, but what should we expect when he has to great parents. I loved every minute of this movie and my kids did too. They left the movie punching and kicking the air and wanting me to buy it. If you were not planning on seeing this movie (Change your plans) and go see it.

Controversies over lsquo;Karate Kidrsquo;

Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan get a big YES for their work on this film, but at least three controversies swirl over this re-make of the 1984 Macchio version of ldquo;The Karate Kid.rdquo;

First of all, the casting director, Poping Auyeung, flopped when it came to casting the Asians. Though Taraji P. Henson, the mom, is really sweet ndash; the rest of this cast and the script are not up to the caliber of the film or its stars.

Auyeung is noted as a Canadian casting director who has been working from China for the last five years casting English-speaking Asians for international film and TV roles. How much she had to do with casting Smithrsquo;s girlfriend and the blond boy who could speak Chinese is not known, but these uncomfortable choices lent an unprofessional quality to the production.

Sometimes there are competing interests in casting, and in order to showcase one lead the director wants to make sure there is no competition from the minor players. But there was no need for anxiety in this area. Smith handles this film all by himself just fine. But he must only play opposite the best so that the quality of the total film can shine forth. When he was in a scene with Jackie Chan there was magic! Casting him against kids who obviously feel awkward delivering lines only lets the audience notice that the script just isnrsquo;t too good.

Though credit is given for the story to Robert Kamen, who wrote the original version, Christopher Murphey wrote this weak screenplay. There are so many loose ends. How does a an American mom from Detroit get transferred to Beijing to work in an auto factory? What car company does this? If kung fu is not about having no mercy, then why does the Asian (he doesnrsquo;t look Chinese) teach his boys that way? Does the girl make the violin selection or not?

Beside the blatant casting gaffes and mundane script, there is the title problem.

Why call the film ldquo;Karate Kidrdquo;? Couldnrsquo;t they come up with some other name since the production neither used the same script nor karate?

ldquo;Karate Kid Goes Fung Fu,rdquo; ldquo;Karate Kid Re-Play,rdquo; ldquo;Karate Kid ndash; Chinese Version.rdquo; Or how about putting Ralph Macchio in it and having him pass a torch, calling Smith the ldquo;Kung-Fu Kid?rdquo;

Karate was developed on Okinawa and is Japanese in origin. Kung fu, of course, is a national Chinese martial art. Accusations of cultural insensitivity, ignorance, bias and even racism have been leveled against the film.

Jerry Weintraub, the producer of the Macchio versions, did not want to do this film. Will Smith came to him with the idea as a great project to cement his son as a star. However, using his famously instinctive good sense, Weintraub declined. So Smith sent his people to Weintraubrsquo;s every day for months until Weintraub relented. But then Weintraub insisted, despite Smithrsquo;s idea to call it ldquo;Kung Fu Kid,rdquo; to keep the original name, because he saw it as a brand ndash; a recognizable marketing ploy.

However, one compromise was made. Weintraub allowed ldquo;Kung Fu Kidrdquo; as the film title in the Peoplersquo;s Republic of China, Japan and South Korean.

Was it a mistake not to give it that name everywhere?

The Chinese scenery was majestic, the acting of Smith and Chan was superb and the conveyance of the message brought tears to my eyes, but the script, casting of the other kids and film title were unfortunate.

This film gets a 2 out of 5. As Anderson Cooper would say, ldquo;Keeping it honest.rdquo;

If you decide to build your own website with Weebly, the days of me building websites for $100 an hour are over. Who in their right mind would pay me to build a beautiful, functional web site when they can do it themselves without a technician? Please, I have a family to support.

A thick forged hook is not the right choice for small fish, fish with small mouths or soft lipped fish. Kalaripayattu is spread over three stages such as Meippayatt ( exercise to control the body), Kolthari (fighting with sticks).

Exercise without moving as muscle? Yes, of course. A tried and tested system – perhaps not to turn yourself into a man or woman of steel, but nevertheless an accepted and documented way of reviving much of your younger days’ tuning.

There are many and varied training methods. When I worked in the London hospitals (so many years ago!) I was actively involved in Exercise Study. A passionate student of BRIME – Brief Repetitive Isometric Exercise, that was the ‘In Thing’!

Isometric means ‘staying the same length when contracted’. The joint which the aimed-at muscle moves – does not move. In the case of the quadriceps, which control the knee, nothing moves. The joint stays straight and firm.

Of particular value for aiding quadriceps recovery, the schedule ran thus:

In the case of ‘re-tuning’ the quadriceps, that big set of four muscles of the thigh, the front of the upper leg, start by lying down on your back. Put a largish weight – say several bags of sugar? – on your instep, where your shoe laces tie up.

You want to find that weight which you can JUST straight-leg lift up three or four inches for exactly ten seconds before you simply HAVE to drop the leg down again. ” – 8 – 9 – 10 little seconds” – collapse! To assess your maximum, start with quite a high weight, so you can reach the maximum poundage quickly. Don’t move up in small increments – you will tire your quadriceps too soon and get a false result.

Lets say (for ease of my mathematics) that you could JUST manage 9 lbs. Fine. You are going to work with two-thirds of that total – 6 lbs.

The isometric routine: Put a 6 lb weight on your instep. Lock your knee straight and – without any bending or sagging – raise your leg some three inches. Hold it tightly there while you count “ten little seconds” and then lower it down and rest relaxed for “ten little seconds”.

Repeat this for seven times. So that you have raised and lowered seven times. Finish. That is one exercise session. For that particular muscle group.

The higher you keep your leg lifted, the easier the exercise is. For maximum effect, only raise it up a few inches. Don’t let the knee joint move!

Studies have shown that seven repetitions are sufficient to achieve the desired result, over time, of developing, of strengthening a muscle, or set of muscles. I have to say though that I myself prefer to do ten repetitions. To play safe, I suppose, but there we are …
